BUFFALO, N.Y. – Western New York veterans have a reason to smile.
In honor of the service veterans have provided the country, the Â鶹´«Ã½o School of Dental Medicine (SDM) will host its first Dentistry Smiles on Veterans program – a day of free dental screenings, cleanings and repairs for local veterans.
The program will be held at 11 a.m. and will include a proclamation from Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.
Who: UB School of Dental Medicine and Eighth District Dental Society, in connection with National Prosthodontics Awareness Week
When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 18
Where: UB Dental Clinic in Squire Hall on the South Campus
Why: More than 100 Buffalo-area dentists and hygienists and UB dental students and faculty will provide nearly 100 veterans that were honorably discharged after 1990 with everything from a simple cleaning to oral surgery.
Contrary to popular belief, most veterans do not receive dental coverage through the Veterans Health Administration. The benefit is reserved for those who received service-related injuries.
Press arrangements: Ed Morrison, SDM chief marketing officer, at 716-955-0393.
